Gas line installation and repair in Dillsburg, PA

Pennsylvania master-licensed gas piping for natural gas and propane systems. We pull permits, pressure test to code, and never leave a job until UGI or the AHJ has signed off. Stove, dryer, generator, fire pit, pool heater, full re-pipe - all covered by a single licensed plumber.

Smell gas right now? Leave the building first. Don't flip switches. Once outside, call UGI at 1-800-276-2722 or 911. Then call us at (223) 200-3488 to schedule the repair after the utility makes it safe.

Gas-line work we handle every week

Adding gas to an appliance

Stove, dryer, fireplace, pool heater, range, water heater. Sized to BTU load, isolated with a sediment trap and shutoff valve, leak-tested at 15 PSI.

Generator gas line install

Whole-house standby generators (Generac, Kohler, Cummins) need 220 to 360 cubic feet per hour at 7" WC. We size from the meter, bury the run, and coordinate with the electrician on transfer-switch staging.

CSST repipe and bonding

CSST has to be bonded to the building grounding electrode system per NEC 250.104. Many older Dillsburg installs miss this. We test the bond and fix it as part of any CSST work.

Outdoor fire pit / kitchen

PE buried gas line at 18" depth with tracer wire, tee for future expansion, and a quick-disconnect at the appliance. Permit pulled with the township.

Gas leak isolation

Combustible-gas detector sweep on every joint and appliance. We isolate, repair the bad joint or section, and re-pressure-test the whole system before reconnecting.

Old galvanized re-pipe

Pre-1960 Dillsburg homes still have galvanized gas pipe in basements. We replace with black iron or CSST, properly bonded and tested, on a permit.

Gas line FAQs

If I smell gas, what should I do right now?
Leave the building. Don't flip switches, don't use a phone inside, don't try to find the leak. Once outside, call UGI at 1-800-276-2722 or 911 first to make the property safe. Then call us at (223) 200-3488 from outside to schedule the repair after the utility clears the scene.
Are you licensed to work on gas lines in PA?
Yes. Pennsylvania master plumbing licensure covers fuel-gas piping (NFPA 54 / IFGC), and we pull permits with each township and borough we work in. CSST work requires an additional manufacturer certification, which our installers carry.
Do you do CSST or only black iron?
Both. Black iron (also called schedule 40 steel) is still the standard for runs above ground and where impact resistance matters. CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing - TracPipe, Gastite, etc.) is faster to install through joists and walls. We choose based on the run, the load, and the bonding requirements.
How much does it cost to add a gas line for a stove, dryer, or fire pit?
Inside the house, $425 to $1,200 depending on distance from the meter and finish considerations. Outdoor lines for a fire pit, generator, or outdoor kitchen run $850 to $2,800. Whole-house re-pipe of a gas system is $3,800 and up. Permit and pressure test included.
Can I bury a gas line for a generator or pool heater?
Yes - with the right material. We bury PE (polyethylene) gas line at code depth (typically 18 inches for residential), with a tracer wire and warning tape, and transition to black iron at the riser. Always pulled with a permit so the meter end and emergency shutoff are inspected.
How do you test a gas line after a repair?
Air pressure test at 1.5x working pressure (typically 15 PSI for residential), held for the time the AHJ requires - usually 15 to 30 minutes with a calibrated gauge. We also leak-soap every joint and run a combustible-gas detector along the run. The inspector signs off before the meter is reconnected.
